Joan Robbins PhD

Joan Robbins, PhD, President

Joan specializes in preclinical and clinical development, biologics and virus manufacturing, and regulatory interactions for unique products.  She has over 25 years of bench to senior leadership experience including: CSO at Adventrix Pharmaceuticals, focused on drugs for cancer and infectious disease; VP of Translational Research at Tocagen, Inc., advancing the first replicating retroviral virus for brain cancer; Sr VP Biosafety and Gene Therapy at WIRB - Copernicus Group, the world’s largest provider of regulatory and ethical review for human research. She is the co-founder of two virus and biologic specialty manufacturing companies. Joan trained at the NIH/NCI, the Garvan Institute and Center for Immunology (Sydney, Australia), and the University of California, San Diego. She received her BS in Genetics from the University of California, Davis, and PhD in Genetics from the George Washington University, Washington D.C.

Rob Robbins

Rob Robbins, Chief Financial Officer

Rob’s expertise is in contracting, finance, and project management.  He has over 15 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer and Operations Manager at Virapur, LLC. a contract manufacturer specializing in virus development and production. He trained in accounting at Duke University, obtained a Masters degree in Business from American University, and studied finance at University of California, San Diego. Rob served in the US Navy Supply Corps and led several forums involving major Defense contractors, program sponsors, auditors and contracting officers for acquisition process improvements. As Senior Manager at KPMG LLP from 1998-2003, managed new accounts in global IT programs with > $400M total budget. Responsible for Total Ownership Cost models, congressional budget exhibits and spend plans. Co-Founder and prior CFO of PacificGMP, a biologics contract manufacturing organization. Rob has served on several Boards including the National Contract Management Association.
